Plymouth: A Courtyard Retreat

Grays Beach and Bass River anchor one side of Yarmouth, where sandy soil and salt air call for irrigation and planting choices built for coastal exposure. A few miles up Old King’s Highway in Yarmouth Port, the same town looks completely different: mature trees and established gardens that have had decades to settle in. Our residential design and irrigation teams handle both ends of that range, bringing the same lawn care and landscape design services we’ve run on the South Shore for over 20 years to a branch now based just down the road in Mashpee.
Every yard gets a plan built around what’s actually growing there rather than a standard package. Our crews train together and follow the same standards on every property, so the quality you get doesn’t change depending on who shows up that week.

EXCELLENT Based on 139 reviews Posted on Google Colleen MaloneyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It may be my new hobby to give Egan Wholesale Nursery and Egan Landscape sterling reviews. We worked closely with our assigned project manager, Elise. She was knowledgable, skilled, personable and oversaw our modest landscape project with professional execution. She listened to our concerns and lent her expertise in finalizing our plan. Louis and Jilmar, were the work crew assigned to project. They were a stunning team! Both of them were extremely hard working, and lent their attentions to every possible detail in planting our four new trees. They were exceptional. It is without a single reservation that my husband and I would recommend Egan Landscape. I may apply to become their official cheer leader!Posted on Google David DesmondTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Adrien and Mike did a great job!Posted on Google GaryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From start to finish, the project completed by Egan was superb! During the blizzard of 2026, all of our mature arborvitae trees were severely damaged. We wanted a natural privacy fence between our house and our neighbors, so we contacted Egan who sent Andrea Pereira to consult. I met with her and immediately trusted her which is how I like to do business. The same day we met, she sent me a proposal which I immediately accepted. It took me a week to remove the old trees and mark the property line in preparation for Egan. Once they received the new arborvitaes, it took them only two days to remove all the landscape debris and 9 stumps, prepare the area, cut back encroaching vegetation, and plan 19 new trees. Very happy with the result! We have several other projects in the works, not the least of which is widening and replacing our existing driveway using paving stones and extending the existing irrigation system and landscape lighting to cover the new trees. Will definitely look to Egan for these projects!Posted on Google Bill LarnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are extremely happy with the work Patrick and Jilmar did on our property. While it may have been a small job for your team, it was a big deal for our family. Patrick and Jilmar arrived on time, were very courteous, and got straight to work. They quickly spread the large pile of loam and cleared out all the weeds, transforming our backyard garden from a jungle into a beautiful space. We truly appreciate that your team provided fair pricing and treated our small project with the same importance as a much larger job. We will definitely be doing business with Egan Landscape Group again. Sandi SilviaPosted on Google Jean MacDonaldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Sandy soil drains fast, which means it also dries out fast and holds onto fewer nutrients than the heavier soil found off-Cape. That's usually why lawns here brown out or thin during dry stretches even with a decent watering schedule. The fix is less about watering more and more about building up the soil itself, along with choosing grass varieties that actually handle sandy conditions well. We look at soil health first before recommending any changes to your irrigation.
It can, especially with plants that aren't suited for it. Salt spray and salt-laden wind stress out a lot of common ornamentals, showing up as browned leaf edges or stunted growth on the side of the yard facing the water. The workaround is picking species that tolerate coastal exposure in the first place, and positioning more sensitive plantings where they get some natural buffering from the house, fencing, or hardier shrubs.
Yes, and that's usually the better approach anyway. Mature plantings have a head start that's hard to replicate, so our first step on a property like this is figuring out what's healthy and worth building around versus what's struggling and needs attention. Most of the historic properties we work with need selective pruning, soil amendment, and filling gaps rather than a full redesign.
It can. Low-lying spots near bogs or wetland buffers tend to hold moisture longer and may have different soil acidity than a typical yard, which changes what will actually thrive there. If part of your yard stays soggy longer than the rest, that's worth flagging to us early so we can plan around it rather than fighting it.
