Why Do Leaves Change Color?
Discover the science behind New England's fall colors, when foliage peaks on the South Shore and Cape Cod, and the ...
October is the month everything comes together on the South Shore and Cape Cod. The leaves are turning, the air is crisp, and our crews are out in full force getting properties ready for the season ahead. This is the sweet spot for fall work, when every service you book sets your property up to rest well through winter and come back strong in spring.
Here is what to put on your October list, and how our team can take it off your plate.
As the trees let go of their leaves, a thorough fall clean-up keeps your lawn healthy and your beds looking sharp. Our crews clear leaves and debris, tidy planting beds, and cut back spent growth so your property heads into winter looking clean and cared for. Clearing leaves before the snow arrives also helps your lawn breathe and green up faster in spring. Our calendar fills quickly from here through November, so now is the perfect time to lock in your spot.
A New England freeze can be tough on an irrigation system that still has water in its lines. Our irrigation team blows out and winterizes your system so it stays protected all winter and is ready to run the moment spring arrives. It is a quick service that saves you from repair headaches down the road, and October is the ideal month to get it done before temperatures drop for good.
The soil is still warm, which makes October a great time for planting. Shrubs, trees, and perennials installed now spend the cool months building strong roots, so they arrive in spring already settled and ready to thrive. It is also the moment to plan for next year’s color with spring-blooming bulbs. Stop by the nursery at Egan Wholesale Group to see what is in stock, or let our team handle the selection and installation for you.
A round of fall pruning shapes your shrubs, removes weak or overgrown branches, and helps plants stand up to snow and wind. Paired with fresh bed edging and care, it gives your property a polished look right through the holidays and a healthy head start when everything wakes up in spring.
Fall is the ideal time to start planning your next big project. Whether you are picturing a new patio, an outdoor kitchen, landscape lighting, or a complete redesign, our design team can help you map out plans and phases this fall. Projects that start design now can move through planning and permitting over the winter, so you are ready to build as soon as spring arrives.
Every service on this list shares the same goal: a beautiful, healthy property this winter and an even better one come spring. Our team is ready to help, and the sooner you reach out, the more scheduling options you will have. Give us a call at (508) 224-9300 or contact us online to get started.

One of our favorite fall traditions is almost here! Each October, the Egan team puts down the rakes and picks up the carving tools to make a lineup of pumpkins for The Pinehills Stone Bridge. This year we’re bringing you into the fun. Once the pumpkins are carved and on display, you’ll be able to see every creation, meet the carvers behind them, and vote for your favorite to help us crown this year’s pumpkin champion.
Visit our pumpkin page to learn how the tradition works, where to find the display, and how voting will work when it opens later this month. It’s the perfect excuse for a fall stroll with the family, and we can’t wait to see which pumpkin you pick!

It may be my new hobby to give Egan Wholesale Nursery and Egan Landscape sterling reviews. We worked closely with our assigned project manager, Elise. She was knowledgable, skilled, personable and oversaw our modest landscape project with professional execution. She listened to our concerns and lent her expertise in finalizing our plan. Louis and Jilmar, were the work crew assigned to project. They were a stunning team! Both of them were extremely hard working, and lent their attentions to every possible detail in planting our four new trees. They were exceptional. It is without a single reservation that my husband and I would recommend Egan Landscape. I may apply to become their official cheer leader!Posted on Google![]()

From start to finish, the project completed by Egan was superb! During the blizzard of 2026, all of our mature arborvitae trees were severely damaged. We wanted a natural privacy fence between our house and our neighbors, so we contacted Egan who sent Andrea Pereira to consult. I met with her and immediately trusted her which is how I like to do business. The same day we met, she sent me a proposal which I immediately accepted. It took me a week to remove the old trees and mark the property line in preparation for Egan. Once they received the new arborvitaes, it took them only two days to remove all the landscape debris and 9 stumps, prepare the area, cut back encroaching vegetation, and plan 19 new trees. Very happy with the result! We have several other projects in the works, not the least of which is widening and replacing our existing driveway using paving stones and extending the existing irrigation system and landscape lighting to cover the new trees. Will definitely look to Egan for these projects!Posted on Google![]()

We are extremely happy with the work Patrick and Jilmar did on our property. While it may have been a small job for your team, it was a big deal for our family. Patrick and Jilmar arrived on time, were very courteous, and got straight to work. They quickly spread the large pile of loam and cleared out all the weeds, transforming our backyard garden from a jungle into a beautiful space. We truly appreciate that your team provided fair pricing and treated our small project with the same importance as a much larger job. We will definitely be doing business with Egan Landscape Group again. Sandi SilviaPosted on Google![]()
