Creating a Warm, Colorful Welcome

From a blank canvas to a thriving community landmark.

First impressions matter—especially when it comes to a new community. For Flagstone, the goal was to create an entrance that felt more than functional. We wanted it to be inviting, colorful, and welcoming—a space that brightens the drive for people passing by, impresses new residents as they explore their potential home, and brings daily enjoyment to those already living in the neighborhood.

Our team designed and installed a vibrant front entrance landscape that sets the tone for the entire community.

Scope of Work

To bring this community entrance to life, our team tackled the project step by step:

  • Clearing & Preparation
We began by clearing the land to create two large plant beds on either side of the golf cart passage. The goal was to mirror the gardens so that both golfers and walkers could enjoy the beauty from every angle.

  • Tree Installation
Before any flowers or shrubs were added, the crew planted Green Giant arborvitaes and a selection of smaller trees at the front of the beds. These anchor trees provide structure, seasonal interest, and a natural privacy screen for future residents.

  • Irrigation System
Once the trees were in place, our irrigation crew marked the layout for drip lines and installed a brand-new irrigation system. This ensures that every plant will thrive in its new home and stay healthy year-round.

  • Plant Staging & Layout
Next, the team staged plants from Egan Wholesale Group across the garden beds. This step is key—it allowed us to visualize how the colors, textures, and layers would come together. Pops of color were added to create dimension, while shrubs were placed strategically for structure and balance.

  • Final Planting & Mulching
After staging, the crew dug in and installed each plant, adjusting their placement and “facing” them so both beds stood out from every angle. Mulch was then added to tie the entire design together and give it a crisp, finished look.

Now, with everything planted, we’re awaiting the final step: hydroseeding. Soon, lush grass will grow around the beds to complete the transformation and make this entrance truly pop.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Where did we get the plants from?

The plant material for this project was all from Egan Wholesale Group, which is our wholesale nursery for homeowners and contractors. Check it out at this website here↗.

Yes! As Elise said in the video, the fall is a great time to plant because we’re past the summer heat and there is more frequent rain to help with watering. For more benefits of planting in the fall, head to our blog posts below!
