This seaside residential property presented a valuable opportunity for structural and aesthetic enhancement following a major home renovation and new driveway installation. The client sought to define the front yard space with permanent, high-quality elements. The core of this project was the installation of a double-sided stacked stone wall and matching architectural pillar, designed to dramatically enhance the property’s curb appeal and establish a distinguished, elegant perimeter.
The transformation focused on introducing enduring structure and low-maintenance appeal. The wall and its granite-capped pillar were meticulously built and secured with cement and mortar for long-term stability. Complementing this, a tidy, low-maintenance crushed stone border was installed around the home’s foundation. The project was completed with professional hydroseeding across the newly opened lawn area, resulting in a cohesive, structurally sound, and beautifully defined coastal landscape.

Every successful project begins with a clear vision. Following the client’s renovation, our consultation established the desire for a sophisticated, new boundary and low-maintenance ground coverage.
- Design Goals: To define the property edge with a monumental, secure stone wall; to introduce an elegant, visually appealing architectural entrance element (pillar); and to create a clean, low-maintenance border around the foundation.
- Site-Specific Planning: We meticulously planned the 50-foot stacked wall with a slight curve, ensuring it flowed gracefully with the natural property contours. The pillar was strategically placed to mark the driveway entrance.
Scope of Work
Here’s what our team handled from start to finish to achieve this complete landscape renovation:
- Stacked Wall & Pillar Construction (Property Edge Definition):
- Preparation of the entire 50-foot long area for the stacked wall and the pillar’s foundation.
- Installation of the double-sided stacked wall (approx. 50′ L x 3.5′ H x 2′ W), secured with cement and mortar mix for permanent stability.
- Installation of a matching 3′ x 3′ x 5′ Pillar at the driveway entrance, also secured with cement and mortar.
- Foundation Border Installation (Low Maintenance Zone):
- Removal and disposal of existing grass, weeds, and debris from the approximate 40′ x 4′ area along the foundation.
- Installation of landscape fabric below the border material to prevent future weed growth.
- Installation of 3/4″ crushed gray stone throughout the entire area.
- Final Landscape Finishing (Lawn Installation):
- Application of Hydroseed (a professional mix of grass seed and fertilizing components) over all specified areas for a quick, uniform, and healthy lawn establishment.
Client Goals & Outcome
The client’s goals of establishing a dramatic new front yard structure and creating low-maintenance zones following their home renovation were fully met. The installation of the expansive stacked wall and granite-capped pillar dramatically redefined the property line, delivering the high-end, elegant appearance desired. Furthermore, the crushed stone border creates a crisp, low-maintenance perimeter around the home. The project ensures enduring curb appeal, and the hydroseeding provides a lush, completed landscape finish, ready for the client to enjoy.
